Abuja, September 24, 2026 — The Executive Chairman of Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government, Hon. Olalekan Olu Akindipe, has been honoured with the National Leadership Award 2026, recognising him as the Overall Best Local Government Chairman in Nigeria.
The award was presented on September 24, 2026, at the Nigerian Merit House, 22 Aguiyi Ironsi Road, Maitama, Abuja, during a ceremony attended by the Chairman of Amuwo-Odofin Local Government, Hon. Prince Lanre Sanusi, alongside other distinguished guests and officials.
Hon. Akindipe was accompanied by a delegation comprising the Vice Chairman, Hon. Ashabi Ugbo-Anite; Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Noheem Oluwa; Leader of the House, Hon. Olayinka Samson; Chief of Staff, Mr. Semasa Ogun; Council Manager, Mr. Salam Adeyemi; Human Resources Officer, Mr. Oludamilola Okusanya; Council Engineer, Engr. Feyi Oliyide; Public Affairs Officer, Ms. Salvador Oyinlola; Area Officer, Mr. Jamiu Jimoh and other members of the management team.
The recognition highlights the administration’s focus on leadership, effective service delivery, infrastructural development and community-oriented initiatives across Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government.
The award was received as an honour not only to the Chairman but also to the entire administration and the people of Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government. The leadership acknowledged the collective contributions of the Executive, Legislative and Management teams, whose efforts continue to support the development and progress of the council.
The National Leadership Award 2026 adds another notable recognition to the administration of Hon. Olalekan Olu Akindipe, whose tenure has featured various programmes and development initiatives aimed at improving the welfare and living conditions of residents.
