The Executive Chairman of Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government, Hon. Olalekan Olu Akindipe, on Tuesday, 25th August 2026, marked Day Two of activities commemorating his one-year anniversary in office with the distribution of food palliatives and cash gifts to over 4,000 residents, as well as free cataract surgeries for residents with identified eye conditions.
The programme, which took place at the Council Secretariat, attracted traditional rulers, religious leaders, youth groups, senior citizens, artisans, widows, market associations and other members of the community.
The August edition of the Council’s monthly cash gift and food palliative initiative coincided with the one-year anniversary celebration. Since the inception of the administration, the programme has been sustained monthly as part of efforts to support vulnerable residents and improve their welfare. Thousands of residents have so far benefited from the initiative, with the administration reaffirming its commitment to ensuring that more residents across the nine wards benefit.
The Day Two programme formed part of the three-day anniversary activities designed to showcase the administration’s achievements and give an account of its stewardship to the people. Within its first year in office, the administration has recorded notable achievements in infrastructural development, healthcare, youth engagement, environmental sanitation and other critical sectors.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Akindipe emphasised the importance of good health and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to providing residents with access to quality and affordable healthcare. He also stressed the need to support vulnerable members of the community through people-oriented programmes.
The Chairman disclosed that, as part of the anniversary activities, a number of residents with cataract and other identified eye conditions would benefit from free cataract surgeries, aimed at restoring their vision and improving their quality of life.
Hon. Akindipe assured residents that his administration would continue to implement programmes and projects that directly impact their lives. He noted that the reward for good work is more work, stressing that the anniversary was not only a celebration of achievements but also an opportunity to renew the administration’s commitment to doing more for the people.

The Executive Chairman appreciated the people of Ajeromi-Ifelodun for their continued support, cooperation and confidence in his administration, assuring them that their goodwill would not be taken for granted. He urged residents to continue supporting the administration as it strives to take the Local Government to greater heights.
He also appealed for continued support from both the Lagos State and Federal Governments, noting that the achievements recorded by the Local Government have been made possible, in part, through the enabling support of the State Government and improved funding from the Federal Government.
Also speaking at the well-attended programme, Prince Rabiu Adio Oluwa, Member of the Lagos State Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC) and Apex Leader of Badagry West, commended Hon. Akindipe for his commitment to people-oriented programmes and projects. He praised the Chairman’s efforts towards improving the welfare and development of residents of Ajeromi-Ifelodun.
The Day Two activities further demonstrated the administration’s commitment to inclusive governance, community welfare and purposeful leadership as it continues to consolidate its achievements in its second year.
