The Wife of the Chairman of Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government, Mrs. Bolanle Akindipe, will this morning, Wednesday, 28th January 2026, formally flag off the 2026 Measles–Rubella (MR) Vaccination Campaign at 10:00am (WAT) at the Chairman’s Chamber, Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government Secretariat.
The flag-off ceremony, organized in collaboration with the Lagos State Primary Health Care Board, marks the official commencement of a comprehensive public health intervention targeted at protecting children aged 9 months to 14 years against measles and rubella—two highly infectious but vaccine-preventable childhood diseases with significant public health implications.
Mrs. Akindipe is expected to underscore the clinical importance of routine and supplemental immunization in preventing disease outbreaks, reducing childhood mortality, and strengthening community immunity, particularly in densely populated urban communities such as Ajeromi-Ifelodun. The campaign aligns with global best practices in disease prevention and reinforces Lagos State’s leadership role in primary healthcare delivery.
The MR vaccination exercise further reflects the commitment of the Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government, under the purposeful leadership of the Executive Chairman, Hon. Olalekan Olu Akindipe, to prioritizing maternal and child health as a cornerstone of sustainable development. It also aligns with the T.H.E.M.E.S+ Agenda of the Lagos State Government and the renewed national focus on preventive healthcare under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.
Parents, caregivers, community leaders, school administrators, religious institutions, and residents are encouraged to support the campaign by ensuring that all eligible children are made available for vaccination as the exercise commences across schools, primary health centres, religious centres, homes, and other community locations.
The vaccines to be administered are safe, effective, and free, reinforcing government’s resolve to safeguard the future of every child in Ajeromi-Ifelodun.
