In a progressive step toward digital governance, Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government, led by the Executive Chairman, Hon. Olalekan Olu Akindipe, has embarked on an electronic civil registration and NIN enrollment initiative for children aged 0–12 months.
The three-day training program, organized by the Local Government, is designed to equip participants with the skills and technical knowledge required to effectively conduct electronic birth registration and National Identification Number (NIN) enrollment for newborns and infants.
This transition from manual to electronic registration marks a significant milestone in improving data accuracy and accessibility. By adopting a real-time data capture system, Ajeromi-Ifelodun LGA ensures that each birth recorded within the community is automatically linked to the national database. This means that every newborn will have a National Identification Number (NIN) generated with the consent and participation of parents.
Following the completion of the training, participants will proceed with a community outreach exercise, taking the enrollment process to the grassroots level to ensure that no child is left unregistered.

This initiative is expected to enhance the accuracy of vital statistics, which plays a crucial role in national planning, policy formulation, and development programs.
Hon. Olalekan Olu Akindipe’s administration continues to demonstrate commitment to innovation and inclusive governance. By embracing technology-driven initiatives such as electronic civil registration and NIN enrollment, Ajeromi-Ifelodun LGA is setting a standard for sustainable development and effective public service delivery in Lagos State.
