Hon. Olalekan Olu Akindipe, affectionately known as “Lampholder,” is the Executive Chairman of Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government Area, Lagos State. A proud son of Alayabiagba community, he was born and raised in Ajegunle, where his journey of leadership, resilience, and service to humanity began.

Coming from a humble background, he often recalls being called “Omo Iya Ologede” (the plantain seller’s son), Hon. Akindipe’s life embodies the true spirit of perseverance, community consciousness, and an unwavering commitment to uplifting others.

He began his academic journey at Goriola Primary School and proceeded to Oluwa Memorial Secondary School, both in Ajeromi-Ifelodun. He later attended the prestigious University of Lagos, where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration. His passion for people-oriented governance and grassroots development inspired his foray into active politics.

A dedicated and loyal member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) since 2014, Hon. Akindipe has held several youth and community leadership positions, distinguishing himself as a bridge between the government and the people. Through years of grassroots service, he earned the reputation of being a listening leader, one who combines youthful energy with visionary governance.

As Executive Chairman, Hon. Akindipe has brought a renewed sense of purpose and direction to Ajeromi-Ifelodun, championing infrastructural renewal, educational empowerment, social welfare, and healthcare advancement. His administration has executed a series of developmental projects, including:

• Rehabilitation of inner roads and drainage networks

• Construction of culverts and installation of solar-powered streetlights

• Launch of the Free GCE Forms Initiative for indigent students

• Implementation of youth and women empowerment programmes

• Introduction of community health campaigns such as the World Heart Day Initiative to mention a few.

His leadership philosophy is rooted in accessibility, transparency, and inclusivity. Widely regarded as “a man of the people,” Hon. Akindipe’s humility and open-door policy have strengthened the bond between the government and residents of Ajegunle.

A devout Christian from a family deeply rooted in ministry, he draws inspiration from faith, integrity, and compassion in the discharge of his duties. Guided by the principles of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and the THEMES+ Agenda of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, his administration is firmly committed to delivering the dividends of democracy at the grassroots level.
