WELCOME TO AJEROMI IFELODUN LGA
Ajeromi-Ifelodun occupies a compact but densely populated portion of metropolitan Lagos, and its history is closely tied to the growth of the port-side communities west of Lagos Island. The name “Ajegunle” (one of the area’s best-known districts) is a Yoruba phrase often translated as “this is where my wealth dwells,” reflecting the neighborhood’s long association with trade and opportunity. Ajegunle’s origins as a settled community date back to the 19th century, when migrants and riverine communities began to concentrate around Lagos’s expanding maritime and trading corridors.
